DID YOU KNOW That Board Certified ARNPs Are Exempt from CEs for License Renewal??

Senate Bill 1036 became law on July 1st as Chapter 2014-92, Laws of Florida. (Senate Bill history here: http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2014/1036).

Licensed nurses (LPN, RN, ARNP) are now exempt from continuing education requirements for licensure renewal if they are certified by a health care specialty program accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the Accrediting Bureau of Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).  Pediatric Nursing Certification Board AND American Nurses Credentialing Center are both accredited credentialing organizations, so IF you have your certification through either of these, YOU ARE EXEMPT FROM THE CE REQUIREMENT.

You must report your exemption on CE Broker in order to easily renew your license. Follow the prompts to self-report a CE and you will find the button for "CE Exemption". You can provide a copy of your certification, or you can maintain that yourself and produce it if audited. Once that is accomplished, your exemption will be noted and your renewal will go through!
